Scorsese and Jagger to team up

Oscar-winner Martin Scorsese is already planning his next project. Just three days after "The Departed" nabbed him Oscars for best director and best picture, Scorsese announced a collaboration with music legend Mick Jagger for a movie called "The Long Play".

According to a statement from Paramount, the movie is set in the
music business, spanning three decades. The film is based on an original idea by Jagger, who will co-produce. There is no mention of whether he will also appear on screen.

Jagger and Scorsese recently collaborated on a feature-length Rolling Stones concert documentary, shot at The Beacon theatre in New York, to be released later this year.

Blu Ray to compete with PlayStation 3

In an attempt to boost sales for its stand-alone Blu Ray players, Sony announced a cheaper device for this summer, which will be sold for only $599.

Facing sluggish sales for its expensive $999 S1 Blu Ray player, Sony decided to cut the price and offer the BDP-S300 for about $600- about $400 cheaper than Sony’s current BDP-S1.

Hand art

When Italian artist Guido Daniele was hired by an ad agency to create body painting of animals, he loved the idea. "I researched each animal in depth to see how I could transfer it to a hand, and then set about bringing it to life," he says.

The hardest part of his job is watching his creations disappear down the drain after they're photographed. "I'm getting used to it," Daniele shrugs.

"At least I get to start each day with a fresh canvas." Guido Daniele lives and works in Milan.

ND House rejects bill to honor Bono

Lawmakers in the North Dakota House defeated a resolution 58-35 Thursday to honor U2 frontman, Bono, for his advocacy of debt relief for Third World countries, saying the Irish rocker had no connection to the state.

Makes sense to me. What has any of this to do with North Dakota? Has Bono ever even been to North Dakota?

$25 million up for grabs to stop global warming

British businessman Richard Branson (above left) is offering $25 million to scientists for research into a way to suck carbon dioxide emissions from the atmosphere.

Al Gore (above right), of course is on his side and it will be interesting to see what comes up.

The project is called the Virgin Earth Challenge. Branson urged governments to match the prize money he's offering.

A panel of six judges, including Gore, will decide the winner. They're hoping the prize money will inspire innovators to get to work.

Virtual laser keyboard

I found this great new keyboard to be used with cell phones and Blackberrys and such. It is a laser virtual keyboard from I-Tech and what it does is project an actual size keyboard on any surface, so when sending text messages or emails from your cell phone you don't have to deal with the phone pad. You can actually type on a "keyboard" and it will go right into the phone.

It may not be great for a person constantly on the go, but it would work great in restaurants or hotels or places where you might be stationary for awhile.

I can imagine someone using it at Starbucks -- "Your coffee is on my keyboard, would you mind moving it!"

Empowering the frequent flyer

There's a new website called ExpertFlyer.com which allows you to see inside info on airline flights -- thing the airlines don't want you to know about.

While you cannot purchase tickets there, you can see which seats are available on flights before you book the flight and you can see the difference between "Y" and "B" fares -- the airlines only post "Y" fares, which are the more expensive fares, but
ExpertFlyer.com will allow you to see the "B" fares that the airlines hold back -- these can be half the price of "Y" fares.

Also, for frequent flyers --
ExpertFlyer.com will allow you to see which seats are available on particular flights and you'll see which are premium frequent flyer seats and which are not.

There is a small fee, to use the service, but right now they are offering a five day free trial.

Ozzfest tix are free this year

Ozzfest is free this year. Yup, you read right.

"It's our 12th year and we wanted to shake it up a bit and do something different," Sharon Osbourne told The Associated Press today.

"It's not saying that I'm now Mother Teresa or that Ozzy is a saint, but you know what? He's been doing this a long time and his audience has been really good to him," Sharon said. "So if he goes out one summer of his life and he doesn't get paid, big deal."

The tour kicks off July 7 in Los Angeles, with stops planned in San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Dallas, New York, St. Louis and several other cities. A final list of dates and stops is still in the works.

The music roster is till in the planning stages.

Bringing sexy back -- the Ford Taurus

The bull is back.

For Motor Company's Five Hundred model (shown here) is not selling so well, so they decided to resurect the Taurus name, which was retired last year after more than 20 years. The original Taurus was a car that became the nation's top-seller at one time.

Officials spoke to The Associated Press on the condition they not be identified by name because the official announcement had not yet been made. The announcement is expected to be made Wednesday at the
Chicago Auto Show.

Ford launched its full-size Five Hundred sedan series less than three years ago. But the car didn't sell as expected due to the less than stellar performance and the public wasn't crazy about the look of the car. Apparently Ford worked on the look and performance and the new car (Taurus) will be more eye appealing and have a better performance record.
